Best new Hairstyle for summer

When hot and humid weather hit, controlling your hairstyle can be a nightmare. Humidity and high temperatures can wreak havoc on all types of hair causing your usually reliable hairstyle to turn into a frizzy, damp mess. To avoid this, we’ve compiled a list of easy to maintain hairstyles that embrace the curl-inducing hot weather while still letting you enjoy the dog days of summer. Read on to find out the best ways to tame that unruly mop while still looking fun and sexy.

1Fishtail braid

The fishtail braid screams relaxed sexy. This over the shoulder, purposely messy brain is perfect for keeping long hair out of the way while still looking put together.

Working best with second day hair, the fishtail braid allows you to skip the blow dryer and instead start right in with a bit of dry shampoo. From there, you create a simple, low ponytail, which you split in two before weaving. Use your finger to separate a small section of your hair from the outer edge near the elastic and cross it over to the opposite side. Tighten the plait as you go.

Once you’ve woven your hair down to the ends, secure the bottom with another elastic before gently cutting off the elastic you used to secure the top of the braid. Loosen the plait gently with your fingertips for a more carefree look and swing over one shoulder.

2A chunky topknot

Topknots are all the rage this summer, and for good reason! These easy hairstyles look elegant and put together while requiring minimal effort. The slightly messy element of this particular topknot gives it a more relaxed vibe. To get this look, flip your head over and gather up all your uncombed hair as high as you want. Secure with a thin rubber band similar in color to your hair. Loosen the ponytail a bit by gently tugging it up and down and then wrap the ponytail loosely around the rubber. Secure with large bobby pins and then use a generous spritz of your favourite hairspray to tame flyaways around your hairline and base of the topknot.

3A falling down updo

If you have an event to go to but you can’t imagine having your set and curled hair hanging heavy around your face the entire evening, consider the easy class of a falling down updo.

Start by gathering your hair into two sections on either side of your face and twisting each side back to the nape of your neck. Leave out a good chunk of hair on either side of your face. Take the leftover hair and secure it into a low ponytail. Curl that up so that it tucks into the space abov the ponytail to form a low chignon. Then, use a 1-inch curling iron to gently curl the loose hair framing your face. Voila!

4Barely there braids

There’s nothing more frustrating than fussing with a difficult, delicate look when the barometer is rising. Twisting and braiding portions of the hair rather than the whole mass is a quick alternative to painstaking styles. To help create barely there braids, spray hair with a texturizing spray onto damp hair and then let it air dry. From there, add loose curls to your ends using a curling iron then shake your hair out, allowing some of the waves to frame your face. Finish with a spritz of texturizer instead of hairspray so that your hair stays loose and carefree.

5Beach Waves

Popular and beautiful, the tricky beach wave (when done correctly) can exude that laidback surfer babe look that everyone is seeking in the summer. This hairstyle will be easiest if you have naturally wavy hair. To tame the frizz without stealing your hair’s natural texture, work a dab of hair oil into damp strands before rough drying it and adding a bit more dimension with a curling iron.
