Studies are now showing that some level of social distancing might have to be maintained until as far away as 2022

It’s a daunting thought. Social distancing comes with the implication of lockdown, being shut indoors with no chance of socialization or even fresh air. The idea that you might have to do this for over another year is enough to get anyone down.

Don’t let it affect you too much, and don’t fall into the trap of thinking that social distancing means isolating yourself from the outside world entirely.

There are plenty of things to do outside that still involve obeying social distancing measures and looking after yourself and others around you.

1. Make the Most of Your Backyard

The backyard doesn’t seem like a very exciting place. After all, you see it every day.

However, it’s completely possible to make it exciting! There are so many fun things to do when it’s nice out that can be contained entirely on your property.

Set up some outdoor games to play with your family, or spread out a blanket. You could break up the average day-to-day dinner routine with a picnic, making cute finger food to share with the family.

If you don’t live too close to neighbors, play some loud music, and enjoy your own mini-festival in the afternoon. If you do live close to other houses, invite the neighbors to listen and enjoy it in their own yards.

A shared social distancing experience might be just what everyone needs. 

2. Visit a Park

Parks should be safe to visit while social distancing. You can keep your distance in outdoor places, and it’s nice to be around either people even if you aren’t necessarily socializing with them.

Sit on a bench and feed the ducks, or walk around and look at the scenery. 

Staying cooped indoors while under social distancing restrictions can actually end up being very bad for you. This is one of the simplest things you can do to get some fresh air and some outdoor time. 

3. Enjoy a Dip in a Swimming Pool or Hot Tub

The good news is that Coronavirus can’t survive in pool water. That means it’s perfectly safe to take a dip in a pool or even lounge in a hot tub.

The only issue is the surface around the water since the virus can live for up to three days on it. Therefore, it’s important to take proper precautions while getting in and out of the pool or hot tub.

If you’re lucky enough to have access to a privately owned hot tub or pool, or be able to rent one that can be properly cleaned between different households accessing it, this is the ideal.

At the very least, make sure you aren’t entering a swimming pool that has others in it, or climbing in and out of surfaces straight after other people then touching your face. Chlorine may make the virus inactive, but enough of it to do so is only present in the water itself. 

4. Go out on a Boat

If you’d like to do something a little different, why not go out on a boat? There are boats for rent or if you’re fortunate enough to be able to buy one, that’s even better. 

You can take your family out, or go out on your own for some quiet, peaceful thinking.

Going out on a boat is such a relaxing time and will truly make you feel revitalized, but it’s important to research what you’re doing if you’re not experienced with boats. 

If you do invest in a boat and take it out every weekend, it’s important to invest in a hull cleaning product

If you’re going to spend the money on it, take care of it!

5. Keep up an Exercise Routine

Perhaps the most important thing you can do is keep up an exercise routine.

While being told to social distance, it’s easy to fall into a slump. Many of us don’t have jobs at the moment due to the pandemic, and those of us who do may have fallen out of the office routine. Sleep patterns become ruined, meal patterns disappear entirely.

It’s dangerous — routine is often the one thing keeping us sane.

Keeping up an exercise routine is a good way to keep your mind and body active. 

It doesn’t have to be strenuous exercise. Things to do outdoors that involve exercise could be as little as a gentle stroll, or as much as a hard run. It’s important to examine what’s good for you and to push yourself without exhausting yourself.

By keeping up this routine, you might end up seeing a serious improvement in your stamina! 

There Are Plenty of Things to Do Outside While Maintaining Social Distancing!

If you’re wondering what to do outdoors when everyone is being told to social distance, these are all great ideas. They range from free to luxurious, depending on what it is exactly that you’re looking for, and they all have enormous benefits.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that it’s impossible to find things to do outside because of the regulations implemented. You don’t have to fall into a rut. 

Although these are all great things to do to get out of the house, you can also use your imagination and put your own twist on them. It’s important to do what makes you feel good.

Like everything else eventually does, the necessity for social distancing will pass. Until then, take care of yourself!
