Brand loyalty is gone in our house. I used to buy the same cereal, pasta sauce and yogurt without thinking. Now I compare price per unit and buy store brands unless there is a real quality difference. It is not exciting, but the savings add up.
Are grocery prices forcing people to change how they eat?
Our grocery bill keeps surprising me even when I try to buy basics. I’m wondering if people are actually eating differently now or just shopping at different stores.

We definitely eat differently. More beans, rice, eggs, frozen vegetables and planned leftovers. Meat is still in the rotation, but not the center of every meal. It felt like a downgrade at first, but now we have a few cheap meals everyone actually likes.
We changed stores before changing meals. I now split shopping between Aldi, Costco and a regular supermarket for a few items. It takes more planning, but it saves enough to be worth it. The biggest cut was snacks and drinks. Those were quietly destroying the budget.
