Plant ID apps are useful, but care advice can be too generic. My snake plant and pothos do not need the same watering just because an app says 'weekly'. I like apps for tracking when I last watered or fertilized, but I still check the plant before doing anything.
Are smart plant apps and moisture meters useful, or do they make gardening more confusing?
I’m tempted to use an app or moisture meter because I overwater and underwater plants. Do these tools help beginners, or should I just learn by feel?

Apps are fine for reminders, but they do not know your exact window, soil mix, pot size or weather. I use my finger and the weight of the pot. Those two things teach you more than an app notification. Technology can help, but it should not replace observation.
A moisture meter helped me because I was watering based on anxiety, not soil. I would see a slightly droopy leaf and panic. The meter taught me that the soil was often still moist underneath. After a while, I needed the tool less because I understood the pattern.
