The freezer is what makes it work. I portion meat, bread and frozen meals so nothing goes bad. Without freezer space, bulk shopping can become wasteful. For fresh produce, I am careful because one person cannot finish everything.
It can be worth it if you stick to items you truly use: gas, paper products, frozen food, coffee, prescriptions, and a few staples. It is not worth it if you treat every visit like a treasure hunt. The savings disappear when you impulse-buy a cart full of snacks.
