Freelancers have expenses too. Platform fees, taxes, software, time spent communicating with clients, revisions, all of that counts. Buyers sometimes compare a Fiverr price to doing it myself for free without valuing the time they save.
Have Fiverr prices become too expensive lately?
I remember Fiverr being known for cheap gigs, but now a lot of listings look close to agency prices. Is that a good thing because freelancers are charging fairly, or has the platform just gotten expensive?
Replies debate whether rising Fiverr prices reflect better freelancers, platform fees, inflation, or buyers expecting too much for too little.
Answers & Discussion
Some prices are fair, but some sellers charge premium rates with very generic portfolios. That is where I hesitate. I don't mind paying more for skill, but I want to feel like there is a real person with real experience behind the gig.
Fiverr definitely does not feel like the five dollar marketplace anymore. But to be fair, a lot of the old cheap work was not sustainable. If someone is doing real design, editing, development, or consulting, they should not be charging almost nothing. The problem is that prices went up while quality is still inconsistent.
