My ex admitted everything only after I had proof. That did not feel like honesty to me. It felt like surrender. There is a difference.
Should a spouse get a second chance after admitting everything?
If someone admits they were wrong, apologizes, and says they want to save the marriage, should that matter? Or is the betrayal already enough to leave?
Replies say honesty matters, but a second chance depends on actions, boundaries, and whether the betrayed partner actually wants to try.

I believe in second chances, but not automatic ones. Nobody is owed reconciliation. The hurt person gets to decide whether they have anything left to rebuild with.
An apology matters, but it is not a reset button. A person can cry, beg, and say the right words because they are afraid of losing their family. The real question is what they do after the panic fades. Do they become transparent? Do they accept boundaries? Do they stop minimizing? That is where the truth shows.
