I use both and trust neither blindly. WhatsApp is convenient, Telegram is flexible, but people should still be careful about scams, public groups, and forwarding private information. For small real-life groups, WhatsApp is fine. For open communities, Telegram needs more caution because random people and spam can be a problem.

Telegram is better if you care about channels, file sharing, and big communities. I use it for niche groups where WhatsApp would feel messy. But I would not move a family group there unless everyone was comfortable. The features are stronger, but that does not matter if half the group refuses to switch.

For normal family chats, WhatsApp is easier because almost everyone already has it. My parents understand it, my cousins use it, and nobody needs a tutorial. Telegram has better features for large groups and channels, but for everyday family communication, the best app is the one everyone actually opens.
