I would not leave instantly if there were children involved, but I also would not stay just to preserve the image of a family. I would need to see real accountability and a safe emotional environment. Kids need stability, but stability is not the same as pretending everything is fine.
I don't think staying only for the kids is always the gift people think it is. Kids can feel tension, resentment, coldness, and sadness even when nobody explains it. A peaceful separated home can be healthier than a married home where everyone is walking on eggshells.
