The Best Restaurants in Baltimore

Baltimore is known for the restaurants that not only have food that permeates through the salty air of the Inner Harbor, but also for the restaurants that fill the bellies of people visiting the outskirts of the Inner Harbor in Baltimore proper. Like seafood? The Inner Harbor has many options for what Baltimore is known for: crabs and crab cakes. However, the outskirts of Baltimore offer their fair share of awesome seafood places. Sadly, Crabby Dick’s closed in 2007 (they’re still in Lewes, Delaware, however!), but there are many great restaurants around Baltimore and Fells Point. Love Southern food, or barbeque? Baltimore has it. Middle Eastern? Baltimore has that too. Italian or French? You bet, Baltimore has it. You can find just about anything in Baltimore as they offer food for every palette.

Pickles Pub

Pickles Pub is a great restaurant to eat before a Ravens or Orioles game. Pickles Pub offers the typical pub food of sandwiches, potato skins, Mozzarella sticks, Happy Hour drinks, and a great selection of soft drinks. It’s a lot cheaper than eating in the stadiums, and their food is pretty good considering. I had dinner at Pickles Pub before I went to see a Ravens game and was impressed with the quality. I had the Crabby Fries, which were French fries with crab dip, and the crab dip is so creamy that it melts in your mouth. I also really enjoyed their fish and chips; the cod was cooked in a way that it wasn’t too tough to eat and the batter used was light and fluffy. A lot of batter for fish and chips can be too salty, but this wasn’t the case. It had the right amount of salt and spices.

It is a very loud atmosphere, which is typical for a sports bar/restaurant. Everyone is passionate about the Baltimore teams and if you go before a game, everyone is donned in their jerseys and face paint. Since Pickles Pub is a sports bar/restaurant and a lot of people eat there before games, the service is very quick. I was in and out in less than a half an hour. I was full and didn’t need to eat anything during the Ravens game.
