3Berlin Wall Memorial

Once a symbol of fear, separation and hatred, the Berlin Wall Memorial now is used to educate visitors and make Germany’s division more comprehensible. The memorial consists of three locations, including the Monument in Memory of the Divided City and the Victims of Communist Tyranny as well as the Window of Remembrance. The memorial stretches across several streets and is free to visit but the visitor centre can be found at Bernauer Straße 119, across the street from the memorial on the portion of land that belonged to the Western part of the city.
Contained within the memorial is the last peace of the actual Berlin Wall and the preserved grounds, showing visitors what it was like to live during that time.
