Beyoncé is fighting a $2.7 million tax bill

Even the multimillion-dollar singer, Beyoncé, does not like paying tax bills, as she has entered into a legal war with the Internal Revenue Service, which claims that the star owes the US government $2.7 million in taxes.

According to US tax court documents obtained by Page Six, Beyoncé filed a petition on April 17, in which she said that the Board of Directors of the Revenue Service had made many errors regarding her tax returns for the years 2018 and 2019, and that the amount requested was exaggerated.

The 41-year-old singer, through her lawyer, opposed the bill, noting that the amount she made as a charitable contribution in 2018, estimated at $869,000, must be taken into consideration.

Although she did not explain the reason for this generous donation, it is known that the star is the one who established the “BeyGood” Foundation, an organization that helps with education, disaster relief, mental health, and other issues, since 2013, in addition to having supported a group of charities. the other, throughout her career.

In her petition, she also alleged that the IRS denied portions of deductions for Beyoncé’s business income, utilities, insurance, management fees, legal services, and professional services for 2018 and 2019.

She added that even if she owes any tax payments, which sometimes happens when there is a discrepancy between the amount that a person supplies to the department, and the number that he calculates, the penalty should not be applied because it was done in good faith.

Court documents also indicate that the tax department claimed that Beyoncé owed $805,000 for 2018 and $1,422,000 for 2019, in addition to $450,000 as a penalty and fine as a result of not paying the required number on time.

In this regard, Michael C. Cohen, Beyoncé’s attorney, said: “We are working with the IRS, and we expect that the matter will be resolved soon.”

It is noteworthy that Beyoncé’s net worth is about $ 500 million, while the wealth of her husband, singer Jay-Z, is about $ 2.8 billion, which makes this man among the richest people in the world.
