US authorities said that a man from Massachusetts recently tried to hire a professional killer to kill his wife, only to find out later that the latter was a federal agent working undercover to trap him.
The US Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts issued a statement saying that Massimo Marenghi, 56, now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder .
And according to the American New York Post, the man met with the “secret agent” to tell him of his desire to get rid of his wife, who had obtained a court order not to abuse her.
Marenghi offered the federal agent $10,000 in exchange for killing his wife, providing numerous information about the surveillance cameras in her home, the best outlets to break into the house in which she resides, along with a schedule of her working hours and her car plate number.
Maringi will be sentenced next June, according to the New York Post.
