Dave Hollis, who was a former distribution chief for Disney as well as a self-help author. He passed away at the age of 47.
Rachel Hollis, bestselling author and former spouse of Hollis, expressed that the family is “utterly devastated” in a statement.
“I have no words and my heart is too broken to find them,” she said.
The cause of Hollis’ passing has yet to be determined, although he had recently been treated in hospital for “heart issues,” according to a family spokesperson who spoke with US media outlets.
On Saturday night, he passed away peacefully at his home near Austin, Texas. His ex-wife Rachel Hollis stated, “Please wrap the kids up in prayers as we try to navigate through the unthinkable.”
Hollis dedicated 17 years to Disney, leading their distribution team for seven of them, before concluding his tenure in 2018 and joining forces with his former spouse in different business endeavours.
At Disney, Hollis played an integral part in the successful relaunch of Star Wars and also led to the production of box-office hits such as Frozen and Black Panther.
He shared with the Associated Press that his recent drab, tedious corporate job had left him feeling stagnant and unfulfilled until he decided to team up with his wife and pursue this new venture which felt like it was meant for them.
With four kids to raise with her husband Dave, Rachel Hollis still manages to run a successful multimedia business called the Hollis Company. Not only is she an inspiring motivational speaker but also a bestselling author – most notably of Girl, Wash Your Face which has become an international sensation!
In the past, she has faced criticism for her comments, such as labelling Harriet Tubman – a renowned American abolitionist- “unrelatable”.
Prior to their divorce in 2020, the couple collaborated on a variety of livestreams, conferences and podcasts – including one entitled ‘Rise Together’, which documented the journey of their marriage.
Dave Hollis has also written three remarkable books, one of which is an inspiring self-help guide titled Get Out of Your Own Way.
