Newspaper: Jeffrey Epstein threatened Bill Gates to reveal his relationship with a Russian girl

The Wall Street Journal revealed that the late American businessman, Jeffrey Epstein, discovered details of an undisclosed relationship between Microsoft founder Bill Gates and a Russian athlete, and the newspaper said that Epstein used his knowledge of this relationship to threaten one of the richest men in the world, according to the newspaper. to people familiar with the matter.

And the newspaper indicated in its report, Sunday, that Gates met the Russian woman in approximately 2010, when she was in her twenties. Epstein met her in 2013 and later paid her to attend a software school. In 2017, Epstein emailed Gates and asked him to reimburse the cost of the course, according to people familiar with the matter.

According to the newspaper, this e-mail came after failed attempts by Epstein, who was convicted of sexual crimes, to persuade Gates to participate in a billion-dollar charitable fund that Epstein tried to establish with the US investment company, “JP Morgan Chase”.

The content of the email, according to the people who saw it, was that Epstein could reveal the relationship between Gates and the Russian player if the Microsoft founder did not maintain a relationship with him.

Gates’ spokeswoman told the newspaper that he “met Epstein only for charitable purposes, after repeatedly failing to lure Gates beyond these matters, and unsuccessfully trying to leverage a past relationship of Gates to threaten him.”

Epstein was accused, in 2006, of sexually assaulting girls as young as 14 and pleaded guilty, in 2008, and admitted to soliciting minors for prostitution. He spent time in a Florida prison and was registered as a sex offender. After the Miami Herald reported on dozens of other women who said they had been abused by him, he was arrested in 2019 on sex trafficking charges. He died later that year in prison while awaiting trial, and the coroner ruled that he had committed suicide.

Gates, 67, one of the world’s richest men, said he only met Epstein a few times to discuss some charity work, which he regrets and calls a mistake.

The recent findings unveil a deeper level of intricacy in the affiliation between Epstein and Gates. According to the newspaper, new insights elucidate how Epstein operated in the years following his 2008 conviction and leading up to his death. During this period he met with an array of figures from politicians and businessmen to academics and celebrities, providing services and leveraging his connections for his own benefit. In cases where relations were strained, he had no qualms about turning against those individuals.

According to the newspaper, Gates, who has a net worth of more than $100 billion and is one of the world’s largest philanthropists, was among the most well-known names on Epstein’s agenda.

Starting in 2011, Gates had more than six scheduled meetings with Epstein, including dinner at Epstein’s New York home, documents show.

Gates traveled on Epstein’s private jet from New Jersey to Florida in March 2013, according to flight records. In the same month, the two men met in France with an official of the Nobel Peace Prize committee. According to Epstein’s calendar, the two billionaires mingled with others throughout New York City on a fall day in 2014.

The documents, seen by The Wall Street Journal, show that Antonova, a Russian bridge player, met Gates in 2010. Antonova had an idea to start an online business teaching people how to play bridge and sought funds for it, according to the documents. Seen by The Wall Street Journal.

The documents show that Boris Nikolic, a Gates confidant and chief science adviser at the time, who also knew Epstein, introduced Antonova to Epstein to help her raise money, but Antonova asserted that Epstein never helped her.

But after failing to secure funding for her project, Antonova said she decided to become a software programmer. She asked several people to lend her money for a coding boot camp, and Epstein agreed to pay the school directly, without asking her for anything in return.

In 2017, Epstein contacted Gates about the Russian bridge athlete, years after the relationship ended, according to people familiar with the matter.

The newspaper reported that Epstein sent an email to Gates asking to be reimbursed for the costs of the programming school at Antonova, or else he would reveal his relationship with her. Gates’ spokeswoman said he did not make the payment.
