In this decade, smartphones became an essential part of everyday life. All you need to do is look around on the subway or in the streets – no doubt you’ll see most people with a phone in their hand, pocket, or pressed to their ear.

With all their offerings for both work and leisure, where would we be without our phones?

Overall, our phones are a huge part of who we are. With that in mind, why not customize yours to reflect your personality?

To get you started, here are five easy ways to personalize your iPhone.

1) Get a Unique Phone Case

iPhone cases are a must-have to keep your phone safe from damage. But why not also use them to add a splash of personality to your device?

These days, phone cases come in a range of colors, designs and textures. You could get a case with your favorite color, animal or even TV-show! Some online stores even give you the option to turn your favorite photograph into a phone case.

There are a vast range of possibilities when it comes to phone cases. You can be as understated or as extra as you like. Because they are detachable, they’re very easy to switch up. Why limit yourself to one? You could change your case according to the season, getting a festive one for Christmas then a sparkly one for New Years!

2) Change your Lock Screen and Wallpaper

This is another quick and easy step to make your phone feel more like yours. The only requirement for an iPhone wallpaper is that it must fit the dimensions, so you are again free to choose precious photos, artwork or scenery that you will love looking at everyday.

If you have the iPhone 7 or above, you could even get a live wallpaper! This adds some hi-tech motion to your phone. There are a lot of live wallpapers pre-installed, or you could download your own. You can change your lock screen and wallpaper under the ‘Settings’ button on your device.

3) Customize Your Notifications

The way your phone alerts you of notifications can also be adjusted under the ‘Settings’ tab. You could make your ringtone your favorite song, and even change your ringtone based on who is calling you!

Pre-downloaded text tones, alarm tones and notifications can also help you customize how your phone sounds. You could even download a line from your favorite movie or TV show as a text alert!

But it’s not just sound. You can also make your phone flash different colored lights when you get a notification.

4) Get a Custom Keyboard

Apple also allows you to use customized third-party keyboards on your iPhone. All you need to do is download them from the App Store and, again, go under the ‘Settings’ tab to replace the standard keyboard with the one of your choice.

There are several ways your keyboard can be customized, with apps offering a wider range of emojis, gifs, or the ability to swipe up for words instead of tedious tapping.

5) Jailbreak your iPhone

Apple’s iOS limits third-party software on your device, meaning the internal customizations you can make are limited. You can, however, change this by jailbreaking your iPhone.

Jailbreaking gives you the ability to bypass Apple’s strict security measures, which allows you to install third-party customizations outside of the App Store.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks. Jailbreaking also removes the tough security measure Apple builds in, putting your device at risk. Also, if done incorrectly, you could damage your device beyond repair. When it comes to jailbreaking, proceed with caution.
