The passengers of a private plane that crashed in Virginia were killed

Today, Monday, US authorities confirmed that the four passengers on a private plane that crashed in Virginia have died. The plane failed to respond while flying over Washington on Sunday, prompting two warplanes to intervene and produce a sonic boom that was heard in the capital.

According to Washington state police, no survivors were found by rescuers who arrived at the crash site of a small plane in the Virginia area. As a result, the authorities have declared an end to the search operation.

The owner of the crashed plane, registered under the name of Encore Motors of Melbourne, is John Rampell. He has reported that his family, including his daughter, granddaughter, and nanny, were on board during the crash. This information was shared with The Washington Post.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced that a civilian plane, typically used by businesspeople, departed from Elizabethton, Tennessee and was en route to Long Island, New York.

Earlier, it was reported by the US Army’s North American Aerospace Defense Command that two F-16 fighters were sent to respond to a Cessna 560 Citation over Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia, as the Cessna was not responding to communication attempts.

Two military planes intercepted a small civilian aircraft and created a loud noise called a sonic boom.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane crashed in a mountainous area in southwest Virginia, which is about 270 kilometers south of Washington.

Yesterday, on Sunday, people living in the capital and nearby areas reported hearing a loud noise that caused windows and walls to shake even miles away. This led to many questions being raised on social media.

According to a tweet from Capitol Police (Congress), the Capitol and its affiliated buildings in Washington were briefly put on high alert until the plane left the area.
