Remember this famous dress? Its owner brutally assaulted his wife

Remember the “optical illusion” dress that invaded the Internet in 2015? It returned to the forefront again after the man who published the picture of the famous dress admitted to brutally assaulting his wife.

Scot Keir Johnston (38 years old) was charged last July with repeatedly assaulting his wife, Grace, and attempting to kill her, according to Scottish court records.

However, a new report revealed that the man confessed to brutally assaulting his wife, Grace, where he pinned her to the ground and threatened her with a knife in their home on the Scottish island of Colonsay, according to what was reported by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”.

History of domestic violence

In turn, his wife, Grace, sent messages to friends begging for help, and also called 999, telling them: “My husband is trying to kill me.”

Yesterday, Friday, the judge heard that there was a history of “domestic violence” from Johnston towards his wife.

For his part, Prosecutor Chris McIntosh said that Grace had suffered from previous domestic violence, including her husband’s attempt to strangle her before the attack in 2022.

Days before the attack, the wife had gone to the main island in Scotland to get a job, but her husband opposed it.

Details of the brutal attack

The prosecutor said, “Johnston woke up and said he was going to leave her,” noting that she tried to prevent him from leaving, but then he attacked her, pinned her to the ground and put his knees on her arms, so she was unable to move. Then he started strangling her with both hands.

He also continued, “At first she was able to scream. She feared for her life and believed that Johnston intended to kill her.”

In addition, one of the witnesses stated that he heard Grace screaming and tried to push Johnston away, indicating that the latter stopped at first and moved away, but then returned again, threatening to “eliminate” his wife and strangle her again.

He tried to stab her

The husband was seen holding a knife, while Grace managed to keep her distance because she thought he was going to stab her.

After receiving no response from friends, Grace called 999. The horrific call was heard in court.

When police arrived, Johnston was found hiding under a desk in his shed, still holding a knife.

Grace suffered bruises and visible marks on her neck as a result of the assault, but fortunately she did not need medical treatment.

The court heard Johnston said he had suffered bouts of emotional distress since he was a child.

Terrifying conditions

The judge told Johnston: “You repeatedly strangled her and put her life at risk in circumstances that were absolutely terrifying for her,” adding: “Your situation has now changed. You have been found guilty of a very serious offense and will be remanded in custody.”

It is noteworthy that the attack, which occurred on March 6, 2022, seven years after the couple gained international fame because of the dress worn by the bride’s mother (the attacker’s mother-in-law) at their wedding.

Some saw it as white and gold, while others insisted that it was blue and black
