Serhiy Tokarev, co-founder of Roosh, shared the summit’s outcomes on Facebook, showing the importance of international partnerships for Ukraine’s technological revival.
The primary goal of the summit was to stimulate Ukraine’s tech industry recovery, facilitate its international market entry, and encourage global cooperation. Ukraine’s increasing presence in the UK tech market was a focal point, with more Ukrainian specialists contributing to British tech companies. Vladyslav Bazikalov, founder of the Ukraine Tech Summit, emphasized the need for investment in Ukraine to ensure economic stability and tech sector growth amid ongoing challenges. The summit’s discussions revealed that the total value of Ukraine’s startup ecosystem has soared to €28 billion, demonstrating its resilience and potential.
Mike Butcher, editor-at-large of TechCrunch, praised Ukrainian startups for their quality and innovation. However, he noted that Ukraine and Europe lack a strong product vision to successfully enter the market. Butcher highlighted the long-standing collaboration between UK entrepreneurs and Ukrainian tech talents, which spans sectors like SaaS, climate tech, and defense tech. He emphasized that Ukraine’s resilience makes it a crucial partner for the UK’s tech ecosystem.
Serhiy Tokarev urged international tech companies to revise policies that hinder cooperation with businesses in Ukraine. He pointed out that Ukrainian specialists have been remarkably adaptable, continuing to innovate and develop startups despite all the obstacles. Michal Kramarz, Head of Google for Startups in CCE, highlighted Ukraine’s unique advantage in technology implementation. Unlike the regulated European market, Ukraine has the opportunity to test new technological solutions before joining the EU. According to Serhiy Tokarev, this flexibility allows Ukrainian startups to pioneer innovative approaches that can later benefit the broader European market.
Kramarz also announced nine new members of the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, a $10 million initiative in partnership with Ukraine’s largest accelerator, 1991. This fund provides $100,000 in grants and expert support to help Ukrainian tech companies succeed. Notable startups in the program include Ailand Systems, developing autonomous drones for mine detection; BazaIT, an IT recruiting platform; Carbominer, focused on capturing carbon dioxide from the air; Clearly, a platform for finding psychotherapists; and Eddy, a digital space for educational institutions.
