The 6th of February, 2023 brought a shockwave through southeastern Turkey and northern Syria with an earthquake that was broadcasted live on television. Viewers around the world were struck by the harrowing images projected through their screens as they witnessed scenes of destruction and terror unfold in real time.

In the city of Malatya, a “Son Dakika” reporter was in the middle of broadcasting live when an astounding 7.4-degree earthquake rattled 10 cities across Turkey’s southeastern region. The magnitude of trepidation that ensued was extraordinary!

As Diyarbakir’s citizens watched in horror, their television screens showed the momentous destruction of a building due to another earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Just before the Minister of Transport, Adil Karaismailoglu, and his team were set to make declarations in southeastern Turkey’s Adıyaman province, an earthquake surprised them.

The Şanlıurfa earthquake in southeastern Turkey was captured on video as the footage revealed the instant when one of its buildings crumbled.

As the TRT Haber cameras captured it, another cataclysmic 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Albistan in Kahramanmaraş of Turkey during its live broadcast.

At this moment, “Dogan” news agency correspondent DHA is reporting that two buildings have collapsed in the midst of a continuous earthquake. The power and force of the seismic activity are still being felt by those unfortunate enough to be in its path.

The devastation from the earthquake that originated near Gaziantep, Turkey and traveled to northern Syria was on full display as cries of sorrow echoed around piles of rubble in Syria. Entire buildings were leveled by powerful tremors that left entire towns decimated.
