Like the rest of the world, you’re probably at home in front of the TV. Thanks to modern-day technology, we’re provided thousands of choices when it comes to at-home entertainment. We can choose what we want to watch when we want to watch it, and which devices to watch it on.
There are two types of digital streaming options: TV Everywhere and Streaming TV. Today we delve deeper into what they are and what sets them apart.
What is TV Everywhere?
TV Everywhere is a service that is offered by your cable television provider. As the name says, it allows you to watch television programming from anywhere. Just like Best Microphone Boom Arm has made it easier to use a microphone in a studio or stage or any other place, TV everywhere makes it possible for you to enjoy your favorite shows and movies at any place and at any time you want.
How does it work? Apps and websites will ask you to authenticate your television subscription. For example, to watch a program on the Bravo TV app, you would have to enter your login credentials for your TV provider service.
TV Everywhere allows you to stream live television and view on-demand content from hundreds of channels. You will have access to everything your cable subscription includes.
The only drawback to TV Everywhere is that you need to have a strong WIFI connection. Also, if you are viewing on a mobile device you may be incurring additional data charges.
Contact your cable subscription provider to find out how you can take advantage of TV Everywhere.
What is Streaming TV Service?
Streaming TV services allow you to view content but without a cable subscription. You’ve probably heard of a few popular streaming services, some of them include Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus.
For these services, you have to sign up for a monthly subscription for access to content on that particular platform. Most streaming services offer a free trial before consumers can commit to the monthly subscription.
Unlike TV Everywhere, streaming services don’t require a cable box or cable subscription.
Since there are no contracts, you can cancel your streaming services without being billed a cancellation fee.
What’s the Future of Streaming and TV Everywhere Services?
Streaming services are a major industry. In fact, the streaming industry is expected to be worth more than $30.6 billion by 2022. There seems to be no sign of slowing down.
Peter Faricy, CEO of Direct-to-Consumer for Discovery, is working to bring a wider range of streaming services. Discovery, Inc currently offers streaming apps like the Food Network Kitchen which has seen a major surge in subscribers.
It’s clear that more streaming apps are becoming available for consumers. Does this mean that cable TV may one day become obsolete? Not really.
Although cable television isn’t as popular as it was a decade ago, consumers aren’t ready to cut the cord just yet. With the rise in cable-replacement services, most consumers are sticking to their cable subscription.
Which Service Do You Prefer?
The rise of streaming has changed the way we watch TV. It has provided us with countless options and ways to view our favorite content. TV Everywhere and streaming services have their own benefits. Which do you prefer?
