What are your blind spots?

Blind spots are areas of your life that are easily visible to others, but not so obvious to you. Oftentimes, individuals find themselves going to a rehab facility to help uncover blind spots and limiting beliefs, that are fueling their addiction.

As clients learn about new life perspectives, they’re able to break free of self-defeating patterns and old ways of thinking. Are you ready to receive the full picture of who you are as a person, and live your best life?

If so, going to an inpatient rehab center could be the answer you’ve been looking for. Read on to learn what you can expect your stay to be like at a rehab center.

Finding Your Rehab Facility

There’s a wide variety of treatment programs for you to choose from since almost 21 million Americans currently struggle with some type of substance abuse addiction. Before you can sign up to attend a rehab facility, you’ll first need to find the right one for you. To help clients find the best drug rehab centers to suit their specific needs, many facilities will have you go through an intake process.

Completing Intake

The intake process will help the rehab center create a customized treatment plan. While some centers have their intake processes start at the facility, others choose to screen clients by beginning the intake process over the phone.

During the phone call, a professional addiction counselor will ask you a series of questions. The purpose of the phone call is to assess whether or not their treatment program will be a good fit for you.

Checking in Day One

We find it’s best to create a list of everything you’ll need to bring, specifically for checking in. Here are a few of the items you might need to include on your list:

  • Legal documents
  • Consent forms
  • Government-issued ID
  • Payment

If there are any payments you’re expected to make at check-in, be sure to bring the correct form of payment with you. While some locations will be willing to accept electronic payments, certain centers only deal with cash or checks.

Dealing With Detox

It’s not uncommon for a treatment plan to begin with a detox period. A detoxification period is one where you’ll get a chance to cleanse your body of whatever substance has polluted it. While detox can be tiring and emotional, the pay off is well worth the work.

When you’re finished with the detox, your body will be clean and the recovery portion of the treatment plan can begin. Depending on your customized plan, you may take part in different therapeutic activities. For example, you may have a schedule that involves group therapy, meditation, exercise regimes, and other physically and mentally healing activities.

Starting Your Journey

Now you know a little bit more about what to expect when you start treatment with a rehab facility. While addiction may seem like an endless cycle, there is hope out there for anyone who wants to live clean.
