Ford becomes the second largest selling electric vehicle

European news outlets have reported that Ford, the American car maker, has made plans to layoff between 2,500 and 3,000 of its 6,250 employees in Europe – with a focus on those from the product development department.

At Ford’s Cologne headquarters, representatives informed employees that most of the layoffs would be in product development as they shift their focus away from smaller vehicles like the Fiesta and Focus to electric cars such as the Mustang Mach-E.

Ford’s product development division in both Germany and the UK will be significantly impacted by these layoffs, especially among employees.
