Frightening scenes of an autistic child

The baby was spotted by an engineer on a train travelling south along the adjacent Metro-North tracks

A 3-year-old boy with autism was rescued by railroad workers who saw him climb electrified tracks on the banks of the Hudson River in New York.

An engineer traveling on a train going south on the nearby Metro-North tracks at around 70 mph was the first to see the toddler.

The engineer immediately issued an emergency call to a train approaching from the north which then stopped, allowing the conductor of that train to run onto the tracks and rescue the boy.

When the train arrived, the driver saw the boy climb the potentially deadly powered third rail, which was only protected by a wooden cover. The boy was not injured, and once he boarded the train, he was reunited with his mother at the station. She said she had been looking for him for over an hour and that she only turned her back for a moment while he was playing in the garden.
