Which Rooms in Your Home Should You Renovate This Year?

To make sure that your home is comfortable and appealing to you all through, you need to work on renovations as time goes by. If you can do this, you’re bound to have a beautiful home that you’re happy with, and that’s also quite valuable. That said, not all renovations are created equally, with some of them yielding a much better return than others. On this note, here are some of the rooms in your home that you should think about renovating this year to give your home a worthwhile upgrade.

The Bedroom

Your bedroom is one of the rooms in your home that’s most likely to be the sanctuary to which you retreat to take a break, and you actually spend the night there to relax and rejuvenate. That’s why it’s an amazing room to take on as one of your main projects during the renovations that you work on. That said, there are a number of things that you can work on in this space, including the bathroom if your bedroom is ensuite.

Other details you may want to work on include the storage, lighting, and even the floor, which could all benefit from an update. To give you an idea of where to focus, keep in mind that the most common customizations as requested by homeowners, according to a survey that was conducted by the National Association of Home Builders or NAHB, include energy-efficient features at 90%. There’s also a separate laundry room and exterior lighting each at 81%, a walk-in pantry at 78%, and a dedicated home office at 76%.

The Bathroom

Another space that’s a great idea to renovate is the bathroom, mainly because it sees a lot of traffic throughout the day. If you only want to change a single element or two, you can always get the projects done by a single expert. If, on the other hand, you want to do an overhaul of the bathroom and change many details inside it, and possibly also work on other projects, you could hire a design-build team instead. The design-build industry, according to the Design-Build Institute of America, is expected to account for as much as 47% of spending on construction over the next five years. That’s because many people are starting to realize the benefits of working with a single team for a variety of projects as they can enjoy uniformity and more.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is yet another room in the average house that receives a lot of traffic throughout the day. By renovating it, you can upgrade your home, making it more valuable, and also improve your family’s experience. With this in mind, you should pick the right upgrades to work on so that you can get the best space in the end. Based on this, you can be sure that almost three-quarters of survey respondents, or 73% of them, plan on doing at least one home renovation in the next year, according to HomeStars, and many of them likely have the kitchen as one of the spaces that they intend to work on.

The Basement

Last but not least, if your home has a basement, this is yet another great space to remodel. That’s because you can convert it into a livable space that can be used for a range of things, including a kids’ playroom, an additional lounge, a home office, or even a guest room. You simply need to make the right plans in advance so that you can execute them the right way, a detail that knowledgeable experts should be in a position to do perfectly.

If you have a renovation budget that you’re looking to spend properly, these are just some of the rooms on which you can spend it. With a good plan and the right team, you’ll transform your home into an impressive space that’s comfortable, functional, and valuable. Remember to make plans in advance so that you can fine-tune every single detail. As a result, you’ll have minimal chance of regretting any of the money you put into the various projects you work on.
