Apple reigned over the mobile industry for a long time. Their expansion into smartphone accessories went well but they haven’t really been convincing. Add their sky-high process, a few disappointed consumers and you get a vacuum that many have tried to fill.

Apple launched AirPods last year with a lot of hype. It was short-lived and availability of so many alternatives in the market meant stiff competition. This year Apple has launched AirPods 2 and the price is again a big issue. Looking for options? Here are a few alternatives to the Airpods.

1. Sony WF-1000XM3

The Sony WF-1000XM3 is an improved and better version of their predecessor WF 1000X which was launched back in 2017. This newer version has improved in a lot of aspects, the sound quality, battery life and ease of use.

It is made up of smooth plastic with a smooth patch on the sides. This patch is touch-sensitive control pad that helps you take charge of your device. To make things better the new trifold structure gets the earpiece better support and a friction rubber aid to stabilize and balance the main chamber.

One full charge can last up to six hours and the case is capable of charging your WF-1000XM3 three more times. Sum them up together and you get an impressive 24 hours of battery life. Once the battery is drained, only ten minutes of charging can boost up the battery to a level that can last up to 90 minutes.

You get all the groove, and you can enjoy the beats and the bass. The noise-canceling system has been enhanced too, which gives you an even better sound experience ensuring you thoroughly relish your playlist.

Features:

  • Great musical sound
  • Amazing noise canceling
  • Excellent battery life
  • Price: $228

2. Bose SoundSport Free

The word sport in this great device is for a reason. It is both water and sweat- resistant. One look and you will know this is a tough pair. The bulky design causes the pair to be visible when plugged in your ears making it a little less discreet.

The little wings in Bose’s StayHear design provide the headphones great support and stability. In addition, they come in various sizes which means you can find the best fit and feel a little extra comfort.

As for Bose SoundSport, unlike other earphones, these will not dig a tunnel in your ear and provide decent noise reduction without drilling in too much. This though comes at a cost. You don’t get as great noise cancellation when compared with its competitors like the Sony WF-1000X.

If you like serious bass, then this is the right fit for you. Play one of your Hans Zimmer favorites and feel the groove and deep bass. You will thoroughly enjoy it. That’s not all, get a soundtrack that changes beats and pace, you will feel the swerve and the earphone will furnish an incredible experience here as well.

Feature:

  • Great overall sound
  • Deep bass
  • Tonal balance
  • Price: $149

3. Samsung Gear Icon X

Samsung is not exactly known for its earphones. Disappointment might have made you get in touch with the Samsung customer service, but you would rarely find it as good as Cox customer support. This time around, to everyone’s surprise, the Samsung Gear Icon X, has been impressive. It has an amazing rating and is even better in performance.

The sound quality may have been a question in the past but Samsung has always been reliable in terms of build quality. They have also never disappointed us when it comes to features. Gear Icon X has a great aesthetic design that seems pleasant to the eyes. As for features, great battery life is always a plus.

Getting functional buttons such as play/pause, the volume control is common but the Gear Icon X has a built-in Running Coaching feature. It logs your time, distance, and calories burnt and also integrates with the Samsung S Health app.

If that wasn’t enough, you get an incredible 3.4GB built-in memory. Store up to 1000 tracks and enjoy a never-ending playlist even when the phone battery is dead.

Be it rhythmic music or a melodious voice you can enjoy it all with the Samsung Gear Icon X. The deep bass gets the groove going and the extra clarity of sound delivers quality next to the best ear pods out there.
