2Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe

As part of its darkest and most turbulent times, Berlin has erected a monument to honour the lives of the 6 million Jews murdered during the reign of National Socialism.
Located between Brandenberg Gate and Potsdamer Platz, the memorial consists of a 4.7-acre space covered in concrete slabs or “stelae” in varying heights. They are organized in long rows and sit atop an underground Centre of Information, which contains the names of approximately 3 million Jews confirmed killed during the Holocaust.
Visitors can view the concrete slabs at any time, day or night, but must come during opening hours to visit the Centre of Information. Admission is free of charge.
