Do you struggle to find the time to fit exercise into your life? This is a common problem that people face in today’s hectic, fast-paced lifestyle where people often have to juggle full-time work (and commuting), parenting and keeping on top of housework along with everything else. So, how can you fit exercise into a busy lifestyle?
Find Exercise That You Enjoy
Perhaps most important is to find a type of exercise that you enjoy, which means that you are much more likely to make time for it. Yoga is a great form of exercise for people that are busy, but if you can’t stand yoga then you are less likely to make the time for it and see it as just another chore.
Try Exercises That are Easy to Fit In
There are a handful of exercise types that are well-suited to those that do not have a huge amount of free time and will struggle to go to the gym a few times a week. As mentioned above, yoga is great because it can be done at home and is good for your physical and mental health. Other types of exercise that could be easy to fit in include walking/jogging/cycling, HIIT training and home workouts (investing in exercise equipment).
Make It Part of a Routine
If you do not have exercise built into your typical daily routine then it is very easy to pass it over. Instead, try scheduling exercise into your daily routine whether this is first thing in the morning, on your lunch break or directly after work.
Avoid Injuries
Avoiding injuries is hugely important and you will want to do this at all costs to prevent time off as well as to stop it from interfering with your personal and work life. If you suffer an injury that was not your fault, such as getting hit by a car while running, you should look into seeking financial compensation to cover the damages.
To prevent injuries, you should always stretch before and after, gradually increase your workouts, schedule in rest days and wear appropriate clothing. While out walking/cycling/jogging, always be wary of your surroundings and wear high-visibility clothing (especially if out when it is dark).
It is tough to fit exercise into a busy schedule, but it is vital for your health and wellbeing and can improve many aspects of your life, so hopefully this post will be of use for those that struggle.
