Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ family attorney announced Thursday that her Ukrainian parents and sister have filed a civil lawsuit against American actor Alec Baldwin and others over her death in 2021 in New Mexico while filming ” Rust .”
On January 31st, the Santa Fe district attorney announced an indictment of Baldwin on charges of involuntary manslaughter due to his reckless behavior while handling a revolver that accidentally fired and killed Hutchins and wounded Sousa, the film’s director.
In November, Baldwin settled another wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins’ husband, Matt, over shootings on the movie’s set outside Santa Fe.
Hutchins was born in Ukraine, where her parents and sister live near Kyiv. Under New Mexico law, her family is seeking unspecified compensation from Baldwin, the film’s crew and producers for the loss of Halyna, attorney Gloria Allred said.
