According to a British newspaper, on June 29 of last year, Titley and three other doctors were called to the woman’s home after a report that she had fallen in her garden. Despite their efforts to revive her for 20 minutes, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shrewsbury Magistrates Court was told that Tetley then entered the house to seek an order to “do not perform CPR”, but cameras filmed him flipping through and counting the money. The court was told that he turned around and saw the camera before immediately returning the money to its place.
The woman’s son noticed that the camera was recording and informed the West Mercia Police. At first, Titley denied the accusation by claiming that he was planning to keep the money safe for his relatives. However, he later confessed to stealing the money.
According to the court proceedings, Titley had ceased working as a paramedic and had resigned from the West Midlands Ambulance Service a few days following the accident.
While he was sentenced to 18 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, working without pay for 120 hours, fined £530 and an additional £187 for the victim.
