Samsung recalls more than half a million washing machines

The South Korean company, “Samsung”, has recalled more than 660,000 washing machines, after warning consumers that these washing machines are likely to overheat during operation in a way that exposes them to a fire, according to what was reported by “ CNN Business ”, Friday, December 23, 2022. .

The business encountered 51 accounts of “smoking, melting, overheating or fires in washing machines”. Unfortunately these reports resulted in ten cases of property damage and three injuries due to smoke inhalation.

The site also mentioned that there are many models of Samsung top-loading washing machines with high speed that may be affected by this defect, and the American Consumer Product Safety Commission published a set of serial numbers for the fourteen models that were recalled.

The site indicated that 663,500 washing machines were sold in several large stores from June 2021 to December 2022, at a cost ranging between $900 and $1,500.

In addition, the company said in a statement on its official website that updating the program can avoid the risk of fire, and that “consumers must immediately check whether their washing machine program has been updated to prevent risks, and if this has not happened, consumers must immediately stop using it.” Use the washing machine until the software is updated.

Samsung also added that all washing machines equipped with “wi-fi” should automatically download free software for repair when connected to the Internet. Those without internet can get a free Samsung device to download the free software.
