Yesterday evening, December 5, 2022, American actress Kirsty Alley passed away at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer.

True and Lily Parker, the son and daughter of the star who passed away, confirmed the news of her death through a statement published on Facebook. They also announced it on Twitter.

The statement read, “We arevey saddened to inform you that our wonderful, strong and loving mother has passed away after a struggle with cancer, which was only recently revealed.”

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought so hard,” the statement said. “Just as creative and amazing on screen, she was also an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

The statement thanked the cancer treatment center in Florida where the star was receiving treatment and asked fans to respect the family’s privacy at this time.

Who is Kirsty Alley?

Kirsty Alley was born on January 12, 1951 in Kansas, United States. She began her artistic career in 1979 and is best known for her role as “Rebecca Howe” in the successful television series “Cheers”. Kirsty played this role from 1987 to 1993, during which time she won both the “Emmy” and “Golden Globe” awards.

She won a second Emmy in 1994, this time for her part in the television movie “Davids Mother.”

John Travolta: My relationship with Kirsty was one of the most  special of my life

John Travolta and Kirsty Ally co-starred in the early nineties movie “Look How’s Talking.” After Ally’s death, Travolta quickly published her picture on his Instagram page with a heartfelt comment. He wrote: “My relationship with Kirsty was one of the most special relationships of my life. I love you Kirsty. I know we will meet again.”
