The 92-year-old American media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, announced his engagement to a former policewoman.
The businessman, the owner of the “News Corp” group, said in statements to the New York Post , which he owns, on Monday, that he is engaged to Ann Leslie Smith, who is 66 years old, and she was previously working in the San Francisco police.
The New York Post reported that Murdoch and Smith met last September at one of Murdoch’s vineyards in California.
Murdoch presented his fiancee with a diamond ring in New York, during the celebration of “Saint Patrick’s Day”, an Irish holiday celebrated in the United States.
And about the new emotional experience, he said: “I was very nervous. I was afraid of falling in love, but I know that this (falling) will be the last. It is better that it be so. I feel happy.”
His fiancée and future wife, the widow of a former singer and media person, said that their marriage project is “a gift from God.”
Murdoch and Smith plan to marry late this summer. The newspaper indicates that they will spend their time between California, the United Kingdom, Montana and New York.
Murdoch separated from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall, last year.
