Elon Musk is counting on the followers

Elon Musk is hoping his mammoth following of 128 million users will help revive his platform, which Twitter officially secured on Sunday, February 12th 2023. This revival could come in the form of ads and other means that would raise user engagement with the platform. That’s according to an American website Business Insider that reported this news earlier today.

Despite Elon Musk’s directive to “Click on the heart” for Hyundai’s advertisement featuring Kevin Bacon, it only gathered 2,000 likes from its 123,000 views.

Elon Musk also wrote in a commentary in response to a motivational line in the Doritos ad: “Try the Doritos pyramid scheme.” This ad got a total of 8.5 million views, but only 6,000 likes.

 Major advertisers quit

This comes as CNN revealed in September that nearly half of the top 1,000 Twitter advertisers stopped spending on the platform in the first weeks of this year, citing data from digital marketing analytics firm Pathmatics.

Reportedly, reported by Platformer , Musk met with Twitter engineers this week to discuss his declining tweet views.

“This is ridiculous. I have over 100 million followers, and I only get tens of thousands of impressions,” Musk told staff, as Platformer quoted multiple sources with direct knowledge of the meeting.

In addition, Musk fired a senior engineer at Twitter from his job; Because he said his popularity on the site was declining. The employee indicated that this was due to the lack of public interest since the Twitter purchase, according to Platformer.
