US President Joe Biden sparked confusion and controversy, yesterday, Friday, after he ended a speech on gun ownership laws with the phrase “God save the queen, man,” which US presidents do not usually use.

and they could not at once understand what he meant, or what queen he meant, or why he uttered that phrase, which was usually used at the conclusion of official addresses in the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II, whom Biden had previously met in September 2022, died, and her son Charles ascended the throne after her.

Biden delivered a speech during the “National Summit for Safer Communities” in Connecticut calling on Congress to tighten gun laws. Shortly after his speech, Biden uttered the phrase about the queen.

The journalist who accompanies Biden in his daily movements did not understand what happened either, and wrote to the media group that receives his reports, saying, “Many of you asked me about the possible reason he said that. I have no idea.”

His addition of the term “man” also did not help clarify what he said.

Later, White House deputy spokeswoman Olivia Dalton explained to reporters that Biden “was addressing his remark to someone present” but the identity of the “Queen” in question could not be immediately identified.

Republicans are increasingly attacking Joe Biden’s state of mind, and they say he tends to make lapses and shows obvious signs of aging.
