Elon Musk surprises Twitter workers with a new decision.. Ending the “Trust and Safety Council” moments before meeting with him

On Monday evening, December 12th 2022, Twitter – headed by Elon Musk – shockingly and unexpectedly ended the “Council of Trust and Safety” minutes prior to their scheduled meeting with company members. This news was reported by The Guardian British newspaper.

Established by the company in 2016, this advisory board consisted of roughly 100 individual civil and human rights groups working to tackle hate speech, child exploitation, self-harm, suicide prevention and other problems on the platform.

Just prior to their Monday gathering, Twitter sent an email message informing the council that it had been removed – a fact which several members brought to light by leaking information regarding the email they received.

According to a British newspaper, members of the council spoke with journalists and gave them images of the email from Twitter under conditions of anonymity for fear that they would be punished otherwise.

As we continue to strive towards building a secure and helpful Twitter platform, all of your input will be invaluable in assisting us to reach our goal – faster and more effectively than ever before. We look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Twitter

Elon Musk’s Twitter Troubles

Monday’s news has the potential to cause even greater unrest among employees, following the controversial acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk. Additionally, on Monday former head of safety Yoel Roth was reportedly forced out of his home due to relentless personal attacks from none other than Mr. Musk himself.

On Monday, the Washington Post and CNN reported that Roth and his family were forced to depart after Musk’s tweets twisted Roth’s work on sexuality and children. In addition, as Twitter’s Head of Trust & Safety, he was responsible for numerous decisions involving deleting posts and suspending accounts.

Recently, as part of what Elon Musk named the “Twitter Files” which were distributed to Twitter users via journalists like Matt Taibbi and Barry Weiss, his interactions with other Twitter executives became public.
