A new blow to Harry and Meghan .. Termination of a $20 million contract

Prince Harry and Meghan had signed a deal with Spotify to produce podcast episodes for the internet. However, the deal ended after broadcasting only one season.

The Swedish company announced its partnership with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in late 2020, after they gave up their royal duties and moved to California .

Media outlets estimated the value of the deal at $20 million or more.

And broadcast 12 episodes of Megan’s podcast entitled (Archetypes), or “Models”, which Spotify described as “an investigation, dissection and demolition of slogans that try to undermine women.” Meghan hosted many famous personalities such as Mariah Carey and Serena Williams.

The Duchess was awarded Best Entertainment Podcast Host at the Gracie Awards in March.

According to a joint statement by Spotify and the royal couple’s company, the contract has been terminated.

“The statement read that Spotify and Archiel Audio have mutually agreed to end their contract, and they are happy about their collaboration in podcasting.”

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the couple did not meet the production standards needed to receive their full compensation from the deal. The agreement’s terms were undisclosed at the time of its signing.

The radio deal is one of the lucrative deals the couple signed upon moving to the United States.
