He was administratively arrested and referred for investigation

A police officer was questioned and criticized because he killed a dog that attacked a 53-year-old man on the street in Philadelphia, and did not let go despite many attempts to drive it away.

Terrifying footage of the attack begins with four dogs running across the street towards a man while a police car is seen parked around the corner. The person behind the camera said the dogs had just attacked another person before heading towards the pedestrian.

The victim was seen falling to the ground while a number of bystanders tried to intervene. Seconds later, an officer got out of the car, pulled out his gun, and fired several shots at the largest dog. The dog, said to be a Cane Corso, then collapsed to the ground while the other three ran away.

American authorities said that the police officer who shot a Cane Corso dog was on patrol when a civilian said that there were four stray dogs in the street.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Vermont Street and Union Street in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.

The police said that when the officer arrived at the intersection, he found the 53-year-old man being attacked by dogs, indicating that the officer tried to use the siren to distract the dogs, but they continued to attack the man.

The officer got out of his police car and fired several shots, killing one of the dogs, while the other three dogs fled the scene.

The police said that the 53-year-old man suffered injuries throughout his body, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, indicating that the body camera was not turned on at the time of the accident. The officer has been placed on administrative duty, in accordance with Philadelphia Police policy, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The video clip spread on the “X” platform, and caused mixed reactions, with one person writing: “It is still crazy to allow people to own dogs of this type. They are dangerous beasts that do not belong in our societies.”

Another asked: “But why did he kill only the Cane Corso when he caused the least amount of damage?” Another account wrote: “Good injury. It was a wild dog attacking a human. He got what he deserved.”

Another said: “I am an animal lover and I do not like animals to suffer! But after I was attacked by two pit bulls, I wish this officer had come to help me!”
